Also, Peter Jackson would have done a better job because he would have just made a four hour long movie.

Nah, dark fairy tales are del Toro's bag. He would have made a good movie that could have clocked in at under 3 (although I think there were going to be 2). Jackson did do this movie, but it's obvious every decision was the five studios that had a financial stake in this movie due to licensing rights. The tone and structure of The Hobbit is nothing like The Lord of the Rings, and trying to make it like the Lord of the Rings is what ruined it. This fan edit only kind of helps.

That's the thing, Peter Jackson didn't direct this movie. He basically just gave up after the first few months because they wouldn't leave him alone. With LotR he was basically a one man show which is why they rocked.
