I find it so much easier to answer questions. But yeah, with the highlighting text then most often needing to change that text to an appropriate answer, it does take longer to give a reply.

Having a phone IS a priority for almost everyone I know, specifically some of my patients who also happen to have lower incomes. Being able to call 911, call the doctor or call me with a medical issue is essential. I also refer many of those patients to affordable phone plans (one of which, depending on your income, may even be free).

There's a poverty activist in the UK who tells of a time when the only internet she was able to get to was her mobile phone and she had to apply for a certain number of jobs per week to maintain her welfare benefits. They had to be applied for online. So she was typing them all out on her really old (non-smart) phone. They are simply essential in today's highly-connected age.
