O ho! Thanks for the tip. I usually just say I can't tell, but sometimes I guess. So no more guessing.

You can guess. Don't be dishonest and say you don't know if you do think you know, because that could mess up their data. Worst case, they won't include your answers in their paper but that doesn't affect you at all. It's more important to be honest and not mess up their data than to withhold your guess because you don't want to tell them what you really think it's about.
