So odd-ish question for you guys, but I'll get a breadth of responses here.

What do you guys call these types of shirts?

I just told the kid to go put one on to wear under his fancy shirt (awards ceremony tonight), and he can't believe I call it what I call it. That's all I've ever heard them called. I know what the package they came in called them, but I have never once heard them called that.

I've never called it anything but a wife beater...but I don't really try to be politically correct

Gazillians of horribly paying Amazon Requester Inc. - A9 Data Validation are up, and they want you to submit them.

I've done a little over 2000 of them in the past two days. They're not as good as the normal A9s, but with a script that lets me do all of the questions with the numpad, I still manage about $6 while listening to a podcast.

Obviously, I'd RATHER have a better batch or some particularly good surveys, but hey, better than the nothing I would normally manage while feeling lazy.

not sure what era the wife beater name derived from, maybe the 40's but I know a ton of 50's and 60's exploitation films seemed to always have a guy wearing one while whoopin on a gal

Thank you guys for your responses! I have more than once called out, loudly, to my kid, "Wear a wife-beater under that shirt!" And I just said, "Go put a wife-beater on, then eat your dinner, then put the nice shirt on." (He just got out of the shower and was getting dressed and I don't want him slopping food on his nice shirt.)

If I said "tank top" he would be confused. Tank tops are something you wear on the outside, or topside, of underwear. To me, a wife-beater is underwear, just like underpants are.

My kid is getting used to, but still can't believe, I call them that despite me explaining why they are called that.

Now, I want to know why the packaging calls them "A-Shirts".
