Just a tip..I like empanadas, and I make some mean fried chicken and mashed potatoes with white gravy lol

I miss good fried chicken! I have yet to find a place in my area of Socal (that isn't 3 hours from me) that makes any on par with what I could find in Georgia/SC. Also legit bbq- tho luckily someone we know got a smoker and makes a killer brisket.

Someone gave us what they called, "authentic carolina bbq," AND IT WAS A LIE. Neither of us had ever had anything like that in our 10ish years in SC. It was just sad. People are weirdly into "southern food," in my town except that nobody does a good job of it. It's a true bummer.

I'm not southern by birth (or geography lol), but I swear it's in my blood and I can't wait until we can move south! I however, was taught to cook by my grandma who could only make like 3 things really well lol. Everything else I've learned myself. What part of SoCal are you in? Lived in Oceanside/29 Palms for a few years a hundred years ago lol.
