ugh I want to live there so bad. That's where my boyfriend grew up and he's always wanted to go back. Maybe one day...
Probably better to avoid it. I love it there and I'll always consider it home, but it's so ridiculously expensive now. Everyone is being priced out of the cities, so they're flooding into places like the Central Valley, causing housing/rent costs to skyrocket in places that are way out in the boonies. It's just not worth it anymore, IMO.

I actually like it a lot! I’ve lived in NY, SC, GA, FL (screw you disney college internship), and VA, and I had some severe adjustment issues when I first got here, but honestly Matt and I are pretty happy. It’s a good mix of what we both like.

I also live in the Cali boonies tho, so I’m far removed from the way more expensive/more crazy areas lol.

Yeah besides the obviously glaring problems like taxes and rising home values the state is beautiful which is what I was going at. Sucks how shit is rising so fast that you have to be a millionaire to live in the Bay area, but that is life and hopefully it gets better.

that sucks :( he's told me a million stories about living there and it sounds so nice. I dunno, I kind of want to move away from small towns where just about everyone knows you or knows someone who knows you. I think that definitely contributes to my social anxiety lol

Ok, you mentioned Matt and the boonies in the same post.

Now you're just screwing with me.

Today was supposed to be my first day back full time turking, but the storm last night killed my router and fried the ethernet ports in both of my computers. Is this a sign from the mtruk gods?

Joe, can I ask what computer system you have?

I am trying to save up 1400 for a custom built one.

HAHAHA, YES.

We don't have much in the way of traffic here. Matt's commute to work isn't bad at all.He actually enjoys it on his motorcycle. :cautious: It really depends what part of the state you're in. I have to drive like 45 minutes to hit actual freeway traffic and even then, I've never had anything too terrible outside of when I was driving around LA and San Fran. Living in the mountains/desert has its perks:love:

All the property taxes we are looking at for different houses we might buy aren't bad either, but that's because we purposely live outside of LA county (not by too much, but just enough for a significant tax difference lol). If you're not living in a major metro area, it's not that bad really, and we both get paid more for our respective jobs than we did before so it's not a huge difference. I'd like to get paid a tiny bit more, but I also negotiated myself working remote 95% of the time and only have to slog out to the LA area every few weeks or so, which kinda evens out the salary difference. :joyful:
