Hey guys! Does anyone know when mturk starts picking up again after summer. Like is it next month or September?
It should pick up a bit in Sept. When school is back in session, we will get a lot of surveys (well, at least more :). Students test surveys on mturk because it's easy and inexpensive (relatively). So much easier than running around campus trying to convince classes to give you time to pilot something.

Traditionally, on mturk - summers are slow. Though, there are often a few requesters that just appear and drop hits - miraculously - and save the day. You have to be pretty argus-eyed. Don't give up~!

OTOH, if a miracle doesn't appear......then it's just a lazy Sunday

hopefully today is better than yesterday.....sort of a new turker and monday-friday is def the best for getting hits...heard it picks up in the fall also
Sundays are rarely better than Saturdays. To figure out when it's going to be busy-ish, you just have to think when other "normal" people are busy, since they are the ones posting HITs. Most 9-5ers like to take the weekend off or, at least Sunday So, less batch-type work. Most schools are less busy during the summer, vacations and weekends so, less studies. Most people take holidays off, so a bit slower. Elections cause studies and polls so, election times are busy. Sporting events cause HITs but the more prestigious the more HITs(ie Kentucky Derby, Olympics, Championships etc.) Then you get random filler which comes in all the time but, less on the weekends because, once again, requesters have lives(usually much cooler than ours).

Same thing with times. You can tell which times will be busy based on how many humans are awake. Starts with Europe early am, working it's way to the West coast. Then at about 3am EST, midnight PST, things peter off until Europe/India wake up again.

Hope any of this helps. It's pretty easy to guess when it will be busy when you start to think about where the work is coming from and why. :)

EDIT, Sundays do pick up on what is effectively Monday morning, when people start to get a jump on their week.

sundays are always better for me than saturdays
I realize that I typically have a different schedule than most people - I only do nights on weekends, except when I dont' have my kid
[i couldn't get my kid because my brakes failed on me friday afternoon, and I'm not putting my kid in the car til I get it fixed]

but the saturdays I do are always less than the sundays that I do.

even today - I'm already at $8 at 1pm eastern time, and the entire day yesterday was only $12

This study requires you to use a Printer

And that's a hard no.

Last push from the west coast. Then it dies 4-6am. There's just less hungry hippos at night, fighting for the marbles. I do okay at night as well. That's why I stay up. Some of that stuff that comes around in the early am, is stuff that posted a bit earlier, sat in someone's queue, then expired, making it available again.
