the easiest one I got was just walking into Walmart Saturday, bank inside was giving 100 bucks on the spot for just opening a checking account, no minimum, no direct deposit. Left the wife to shop, and filled out the paperwork, took 10 minutes

I have a couple questions if you don't mind. Do you leave all these accounts open or close them out? If you close them, how long do you keep them open first and when you close them are there any negative consequences besides awkward conversations with bank employees?

Just depends, but mainly no, I close them like a month or so after the minimum about of time is required. Most can be closed online, and if not I just call. The bank employees don't care, they understand some will game the system, but the vast majority will keep the accounts.
