A solution could be to have like a 5 minute countdown before any game starts. I think Yale has that with their game hits. After you accept the hit the timer starts for reading instructions.

Our is more complicated. Because we put people into groups that are not random but based on things from step 1. We can't start the game (we actually cancel it, when we can't start it with the number of people we need). So we have an algorithm that is always checking who's on the platform. In any case, we are almost done with experiments, but will keep thinking about how to do things better for next time!
