These requesters are getting really ridiculous. All this extra work to prove we are human now. Like how about stop low balling us and raise the price of you little underpaid studies. I don't feel bad for you requesters. They also need to understand we are pros LOL and we work good and fast. We aren't turtles.

I think maybe the slow down of the summer (and the good weather) drove people away from their PC? I noticed it slow as well. And I do see a few from here over on the other look alike forum. There appears to be more activity over there. Mturk itself has been really harsh lately as well. The bot issue is taining the platform. I almost suspect that Prolific is behind it, I read the twitter threads from both, and Prolific is really attacking AMZN hard. So many little factors going on, but I know my most recent rejection, the req cited having to be extra careful because of the scamming levels on mturk. MAybe that is impacting everyone as a whole. Sorry you feel down though.

I don't know with surveys, but the scamming thing has always been terrible. I know when I've done review hits - for batches - well,
we can suck..
For the most part, I think batch requesters figured out that they could deal with bad work by adding quals and blocking. I'm thinking that survey requesters will either have to figure it out - or find another way to get their work done.

There *are* ways to defeat bots and/or bad quality work. It's really up to them. I mean, we can urge people to do better, but there are so many turkers (good/bad/inbetween). It really has to come from t hem.

Reading today's thread makes me sad I don't know what I'd do without MTC, for working or for socializing. This is pretty much the only non-toddler conversation I have, and idk what I'd do without some of the people here. But if the ship's going down, I'm going with it :thumbup:

Now I'm also worried about the state of MTurk...I'm screwed if it shuts down or slows down any more than it already is.

Requesters don't really want "pro" survey takers though, because they are proven to be more likely to produce biased results. Turkprime has actually implemented a feature to filter out people who take a lot of surveys (more complex than <1,000 HITs, or whatever.)

Looking through TH for the first time ever and it's sad how many people used to be here that are posting there now...I don't get it. it's not like there's something toxic about MTC I'm definitely placing more importance on this than I should be lol

Well for what it's worth, I have no plans of going anywhere. I'm quiet on weekends just b/c I'm not "supposed" to be turking. I like you all a lot, and this forum has made me feel a TON less isolated while "working from home"

same...I don't work on weekends because 1) I never make more than $10 when I was and 2) I'm pretty sure I'd explode from not destressing on the weekends. But y'all know I'm constantly here during the week lol

It gets to be a vicious circle, people see it's quiet and don't check in as
often, so it stays quiet. I took the whole of July off turking. But I'm back and will make sure I post more. I still find loads of HITS each day from the forum and I'm grateful to everyone who posts.
