I think the main thing I need to do is just get rid of my medical debt. its *only* like 15 grand....lol but I stand to get a good bit of money here soon if things work out as they should
OK when you get the money to pay that medical debt, defo PM me then, I will show you a way to get them to remove that from your credit report, if you pay the debt. Then you can get that card no problem

get you a secured CC from somewhere like Capital one. Keep it for at least 6 months, paying the balance in full EVERY month. And your score will raise so fast it will shock you. Once the 6 months is up then you can start applying for non-secured with rewards, but make damn sure you pay the balance in full every month. Credit cards are not extra money, you still only have how much you make. They are important tools, but like any tool if abused they can hurt the shit out of you.
a lot of people would argue to pay minimum to build credit... it proves responsibility over time, i used to pay it off and my credit never went up

i'd also add to not max them out even if you have the money to pay em in full. stay at like 50% or less of the limit
Yea, there are couple CC companies that post the highest balance for the month, but for the most part 90% of them only post the amount on the statement cut date

I had terrible credit for years and one day I woke up with excellent credit. I didn't even do anything.

where did you hear this information? lol

I think its that you're not supposed to carry a balance, but a balance has the register or something each month? idk how to say it

:yesyes::yesyes::yesyes::yesyes:
and that's why i set up a low interest line of credit at a credit union when my financials are set just in case some shit happens and i need to use my CCs for fast cash. i can pay the CCs off with the line of credit and have manageable payments with low interest on the line of credit

If you have a hard time getting traditional cards, you might look in to those in-store credit cards. Some of them are more forgiving. Make sure you read over the terms though, do not get yourself signed up for something with really shitty conditions.

I SO wanna comment something about going face first/all in....but I think everyone gets that already from looking at this
This is unrelated to anything, but you know you can take my button out of your signature, right?

I mean if you wanna keep it there and let everyone know you're my forum property that's fine too. But the contest ended more than a week ago.

I had horrible credit from stupid decisions made as a teenager.. (oooh plastic, FREEMONIESLOLOL)

I am working on my credit scores now, and with terrible credit, I got one from credit one. Keep in mind, the worse your credit is, the more you will pay in interest and fees on a card. So never keep a balance, like ever.

Maxing your limit every month on your card is also very bad for building credit.
So say you only had $400 worth of credit available and you hit that every month, your credit score will not go up despite you paying it off.

When you get a secured card and build you credit up after 6 months. Does cancelling effect your credit, because I really do not want to own a credit card and do not want to keep paying on the secured one.
