Yea well they also call her salary and don't pay overtime...then don't pay you for missing work. I told her she should sue them as that isn't legal at all.
I think that's probably all technically legal (although not cool.)

Yeah that sounds like a whole load of not cool but probably barely legal tomfoolery. She should review them poorly on glass ceiling and then also contact the labor board about it.
They also have inapproriate shit going on like a dude showing a pic of his dick and not being fired...

Yiiikes. Well she should report that to the authorities that be (whoever is over her company, labor board, etc.) IMHO.

I did 5 as well and had to return one because I didn't want to take the time to make up a UK-specific address.

Unfortunately yes, some places don't care why you're absent just that you were. One of my old jobs didn't take doctor's notes, you got a point no matter the reason.

On the other hand, the reason I got fired wasn't because of the doctor's note portion of my absence, but the absences before that + the doctor's part. (I'd missed 6 days that six months and only 1 was a doctors note, and it happened to be my last one.)

edit: Old job you get 5 absences in a six month period, if
i never knew mturkgrind was so harsh :(

I was just doing one and it had an age verification and since my birthday didn't match anyone named "John Doe" it wouldn't verify me. These are kind of annoying.

Oh no I don't mean to the people that work THERE. I mean to OTHER people. Esp if she still has any proof of it.

Totally understandable. There are other paychecks out there though! I just got done working a totally toxic job for a year and a half. I can make half what I made there sometimes on mturk, but emotionally I'm in a much better place without that stress.

Can they fire your SO for that? Almost definitely unless she had some sort of employment contract with them. Most people do not and most companies retain at-will employment. The guy showing a dick pick at work doesn't really matter unless it directly impacted your SO, i.e. did he show it to them, was there harassment, did your SO report it and feels the firing was retaliation, etc.

Firing for absences really doesn't matter unless there are extenuating circumstances, like a union that protects the employees, a contract that requires a reason, etc. If you really want to know if you have any recourse, you should consult an employment attorney in your state but the most likely answer is no. Especially if the absences were just for things like flu. Doctor's note does not really help there.
