I was actually thinking a soup (though a baked something sounds better - you are right). This was because I was just going to 'quietly' pilot this - which means bring a crockpot with whatever in it. I actually have a huge (I mean HUGE) can of black beans.
If I did a big cheesy thing, IDK. Well, I could - but then it wouldn't be warm. I think they would want warm?

Oh yeah if you don't have any way to keep it warm a soup might be better! (black bean soup, cornbread?) or a minestrone soup is always good and the pasta makes it more "meal-like" to non-vegetarians.

my mom was in the ER for a good part of the night because she was feeling really bad, turns out her sugar was over 700. she's out now though. it's kind of hard to feel bad for her because she refuses to manage her diabetes and eat whatever she wants... :/

That's a rough night! My mom had diabetes and she had a hard time managing it, but her's dropped a lot. I still remember her sitting there and started talking in gibberish because it dropped so much. It was scary!

yeah I've seen my mom like that too. Her's is more likely to be insanely high, though. I didn't see her last night but my dad made her go which means she probably looked really bad, he usually tells her she doesn't need to go to the ER (even when she really does )
