So, I know this is excerpted from a popular children's book series, one I loved as a kid, but now I feel like passages similar to the one below are just inappropriate.

This happened to me on Sunday. Contacted Amazon who then told me not to worry because "it was still safe with USPS" and they accidentally punched the delivered button. Except they had delivered it to my neighbor who brought it over on Monday. Hope you get your stuff

That sounds likely, I know every once in a while they have a second person come through who only delivers packages. Maybe there was some mix up there.

Hopefully you have honest neighbors! I was glad they delivered to the east of me because if they went the other direction it would have been a 50/50 whether I would have gotten it at all.

The little scanner device they use notes the GPS coordinates of where it was marked delivered, though, so you can contact your postmaster and they can access that information to help find it for you. The front desk people likely can't access it, so you might have to ask for a manager and/or be the squeaky wheel, because it IS possible.
