After 9 minutes of trying to trace 1 zebra, I give up.

It's fine. If you had done a stellar job tracing lots of zebras, he would soft-ban you, just the same. Then you'd be forced to watch him post thousands of the same batch that you can't do and wonder if you'd ever make more than pennies again.

It's ok, I spent 9 minutes tracing the zebra and then it wouldn't let me advance, at all. So I wasted my time shitballzzz

Sometimes, he lifts the blocks on them. If you get a chance to try them again, hold the ALT key down the entire time (don't let it go). It disables the snapping feature and makes them a lot easier to do (if you didn't try that already).
