I built a gaming rig some years ago and even two great monitors for it, but I went cheap, got unlucky, and basically every single piece of original hardware I had in it has broken down despite very little use, so it's been in disrepair for most of the years since I built it. I think actually every single thing apart from the CPU and PSU. This time it's the motherboard on that one too, so I'm planning to get one on Black Friday and maybe a new, larger case (my hands are too big for mATX to be convenient, I found out). So I'll be in amazing shape to turk some more if I can just...turk enough to compensate for my underemployment and buy the board without failing to make rent.

Thanks! Right now I've been using a portable Firefox install for stability, but I might move over to Chrome for that.
I bet there's an ff equivalent. Sorry. don't use it myself. I've found more HITs prefer Chrome and so, I go where the money is. Rarely will I fire up the fox for a HIT.:)

unique_id @unique_id if you do decide to replace it, there's a cult following for the old thinkpads. Like the T400 series. I'd recommend checking that out instead of trashing it or whatever.
I second this. The Ex used to do IT for his church and handed out IBM Thinkpads to the chaplains, who promptly lost them, had them stolen, eaten by the dog or so virus-ridden they were unusable within days. (As an aside, is it something about clergy that makes them so rubbish at looking after technology?). We ended up with a heap of them in our garage. I was a little confused when I found them in my garage here in South Carolina. But I managed to find grateful homes for them all even with needing a US powercord. I was even a good, honest girl and split the $$ with the ex. (I did enjoy him having to deal with a cheque in USD haha.)

I don't know if it's old or scarce enough to be a collectible model (it's an E545 if I remember right), and it's sort of fallen apart. One of the hinges and the casing around it is gone. I got it refurbished to begin with, and for cheaper than you'd think. The initial hardware wasn't bad at all, but the power/board/heating issues and it being broken open haven't done wonders for the stability.

Ahh, tell us about the old days Grandpa! :sneaky::sneaky:
We can't bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell 'em stories that don't go anywhere - like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you'd say.

Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...
