I just wanted to say that I enjoy that you put an anchor when you post hits. Nice change of pace.

You do you, of course, but every once in a while figure out what you're making per hour and decide if you're worth that much.

Who was that requester a while back that had that study/paper/post about how giving bonuses made people think they were making good money but they were actually making less if they just worked with base pay. It was a long ass time ago.

You do you, of course, but every once in a while figure out what you're making per hour and decide if you're worth that much.

If I were paid what I'm worth I'd be the damned Queen of the Americas by now! I usually look at it more like "What else could I be doing with this particular hour that would make more money?" If the answer is "nothing" then I will often continue the work.

Spent eight or ten minutes getting a quarter trying to fill out one of those "please prove my theory about people right by hitting these loaded questions the right way" surveys.
Spent another minute actually reading what the study was about (I was right when they asked me to guess before).
Spent five more minutes jeopardizing my quarter by typing up a two-paragraph lecture about the importance of neutrality as someone conducting a scientific survey for a PhD who will almost certainly either not bother to read it or just scoff derisively that an unpolished plebeian thinks he knows how science is done.

And I still feel like it was the right thing to do.
