I bought a new Adidas jacket last week from a local thrift. It's not something I would have normally bought, because it's pretty long by design. It doesn't look like it was ever worn though, it has a pretty heavy liner, and it's the slick material on the outside that's designed to shed water. It was only 5 bucks, so I figure if I wear it a few times in the fall and early spring, it was a good investment.

In my experience, the best thrift shops are locally run by charities. I don't shop at Goodwill much, but other people like them.

Morning. Don't know where you live but I used to go to the free coat give away in my town. I would just leave a donation of what I would have paid at a thrift store. My family did that for years. They are all dry cleaned and checked so the worst I ever got was the pocket lining ripped.
