I wrote them. The reason given for the rejections is not right. I mean, it says the answers were too short, but the answers are as long as the examples and I don't see any word count requirement in the instructions. Yeah, I know. The rejections aren't enough to matter in my percentages, but I guess it's just the principle that gets me and also, thinking about people who did a ton more.
I didn't do any of those, but they need to learn some shit because what is being described here is patently unfair (to say the least). In fact, it is dishonest. No IRB?

Morning all! I am not turking this morning, but promised Despairagus @Despairagus a Hot Buttered Rum recipe so here it is:
Log in or register now. to view Spoiler content!
Sounds Delicious.
Cooking SemiProTip-

If you wanted to get all molecular with your gastronomy, you could add a bit of soy lecithin(lecithin powder), available at some grocery and all health food stores. You'd need about .5 to 1% of lecithin, by weight. 2 quarts of water weighs about 4 lbs(1.814kg). 1% of that is about 18 grams. That's not taking into account the other ingredients in the liquid, once completed. So, 18grams is probably about .8% of the completed recipe.

Anyway, what it does in this case, without getting ultra geeky about how, is help to mix fats with water, and keep them in what appears to be a homogeneous state. They will break after a while but, it's why the vinaigrette at Grandma's breaks into oil and water the instant you stop shaking and why the Paul Newman's stuff in a packet always seems to be smooth and velvety. Here's a quote from some website...

"How to Make a Lecithin Emulsion
The other common use for lecithin is to stabilize emulsions. Lecithin powder will bind and slightly thicken the emulsion, helping it to hold longer before breaking and usually adding a subtle creamy texture to it.
Stabilizing an emulsion with lecithin is very easy. Simply blend in an appropriate amount of lecithin into the emulsion and it should start to stabilize right away.
For an emulsion lecithin will usually be added as 0.5% to 1% of the liquid by weight."

Lecithin is cheap and, some say, it has health benefits. I'd try it if I were making Hot Buttered Rum. Alas, I no longer drink and, without the rum, it's not the same.:D

Yes! We have eggs benedict without the canadian bacon and I use either eggs from the neighbor or pasture raised eggs...not quite vegan, but still as ethical a meal as I can make it. I found a really good vegan Hollondaise sauce actually last year, or I think I made it that way with vegan butter. What do you have?
You can use tweezers or tongs, or even a fork, if you're careful, and remove the only bit of the egg that is actually the embryo. yuck. I've been doing it with all of the eggs that I eat, for years. It seems less weird, to me, if I get rid of that bit. Then it's just fat and protein.:)

I have only heard about IRB in passing. I don't know really what it is. I'm kind of waiting to see if they reply. Nothing so far. Thanks for the support though :)

Quoted: "The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is an administrative body established to protect the rights and welfare of human research subjects recruited to participate in research activities conducted under the auspices of the institution with which it is affiliated."

They are the people you complain to when you think you've been s****** by a college- or university-affiliated requester.

Sonic is too expensive. I usually only go and get a diet dr pepper with lime in the morning with its 99 cents.
Tastes like summer.
That's so weird to me. Sonic is one of the least expensive of the "fast food" places here. And we always have Hatch green chilis as an option to put on the burgers or whatever because it's not far from where I live in NM. :D (The green chili thing is even at the other fast food places here, as well as the regular restaurants)

You have a complex thinking process lol.
I am not supposed to drink either (bad liver, somewhat from previous drinking and somewhat hereditary), but I will have one glass of HBR anyway.

So 5's went from 2 items back to 1 overnight? Victoria is confusing me.
I skipped an undoable one at around 10 Mountain time) last night and the next one was 1 item. They are annoying, though... All the weird machine parts and whatnot that I'd never heard of.. Bleh...
