@jan i'm not quote-replying because that is too vile to repeat. the effects you mention on the participants is precisely the kind of thing research ethics exists to make sure doesn't happen. who tf allowed an *economist* to do research with human participants? did this dipshit suffer any consequences? i'm realising as i'm typing this that they probably aren't even a researcher with an institutional affiliation, just some clown with a book deal, a stack of money & an idea to try out. i'm so fkn mad!!

I don't get any emails from prolific except saying payment approved for a HIT. I find having a tab open is as technical as it gets for me. I get about £35 a over two weeks on average just by catching what I see. But it seems very flood or drought. Either I've loads or none.

i found a couple of threads started by "niloufar" who identified themself as a stanford researcher interested in improving ethics standards. reading through those now (although the main issues seem to be related to the use of inquisit, & some study where the researcher wildly violated the tos by creating a ton of fake accounts)
