SO I'm reading up on quals. The general consensus on "request qualifications" for custom quals (not Masters or previous hits or that sort of thing) is that it doesn't hurt but almost no one looks at the requests, you just have to luck out on a qual hit.

Also people often say Qual hits are more common in the morning, does that seem to be true?

Quals seem to be what's holding me back at the end of my first month. See a lot of arguably juicy stuff out there with the tan highlight.

Sometimes quals are autogranted, so it's worth hitting the request button -- just don't expect anything to come of it.

I don't think qual HITs are more common in the morning? IME they pop up more often in the afternoon, but it's probably pretty random.

Well, it seems like qual givers tend to work the 9-5 deal more often than not, and it also seems like more of them are in Eastern time zones than not (she said irritably from the stupid Pacific time zone) so, while I could be wrong about either of those...yeah, pretty much true.

I love them. I can get through about anything if it's got a long enough timer. I do prefer the NFL ones, though. They take way less brainpower.

It takes a while to get quals. And I would say a large part of the time it's luck, meaning you're on at the time the qual hits post. Whether they are for quals like 5s or qual hits for requesters recruiting for a survey.

It never hurts to request them, and always keep an eye out for hits that have qual tests associated with them and take the tests.

Yeah I was just reading in the Amazon requester docs that you can auto-grant based on worker stats.

P.S. I want to re-iterate that reddit can be a really bad place for advice, read a couple of posts there suggesting that it isn't worth hitting those because no one ever looks at them. I think the reddits have an anti-competition theme for "advice" on Turking.
