also the higher ups on mtc sometimes felt like a clique.
I do have to agree to this, but I felt it more toward the "regular" people. There will always be a clique of some form, and really it doesn't bother me anymore. You're either in their group or you're just some random person they choose to ignore.
What I didn't and don't agree to is how the members of that cliche bullied people, either publicly in the work thread or hidden away somewhere in one of those social discussion threads. Nothing was done about it because, well, clique. It was really heartbreaking to see people so upset by it that they quit posting entirely, or just left in general. I reached out to a few of those people and their feelings were generally the same: people were treating others like shit and nothing was being done about it because those people were friendly with the mods.
Luckily most of the clique just died entirely and they took it somewhere more secret, like a discord room or something. Who knows. But I'll never understand why people feel the need to put someone else down for their own entertainment. On a turk forum of all places, for fuck sakes. Good riddance.
For what its worth I like all the mods and they are great people. I find me and aveline like to shitpost in Kerek's tag thread because it's fun to complain about problems and stuff. Jaded seems to be the main mod these days, always around to take care of any problems that seem to pop up. Even with the small member base I feel that shes kept it quite alive.
Honestly I do not feel like they facilitated the clique. This forum used to be popping 24/7. If anything, shit was too busy for them to notice if something like that was happening. Given that they are moderating out of their own will and without pay, I can't place the slightest of blame on them.
I don't mean to instigate something and I expect people to disagree with me, but for a while this place was nothing but unbearable. Not that I'm innocent or anything, I treated people like shit too and I'd like to think I'm generally more mellow these days. Depression and addiction withdrawal do a number on ya.
I understand this post is largely negative toward the forum, but it's in my mind often. You bringing up the topic brought back some memories, and I'm sure you know it's not good to keep emotions tucked away.
This concludes Metallica thoughts. Until next time!
