My mom is also a terrible gift giver. I asked her very specifically for one item, and otherwise like gift cards from her.

My brother is very thoughtful and I like his gifts.

yeah, my favorite thing to get as presents is money or a gift card for barnes and nobles or amazon to use for books. My parents always sucked at picking books for me and they knew it so they'd just let me pick.

I would say in general sense most people are awful at gift giving including myself, so I usually just gift card away as its easier unless I know of something specific someone wants. Like I got my mom a michael kors purse, everyone else got gift cards using my amex points.

True. I forget that some people are not good gift givers. There used to be an area where my grandmother lived that when residents died families would just put the junk and clothes in so other residents could have them. She grabbed some dead dude's OLD cologne set that was cracked and gave it to my husband (she has plenty of money). It was almost embarrassing, yet hilarious at the same time.

My poor husband is a terrible gift giver. The little Nintendo he gave me I specifically asked for, but other than that it's just not usually good. He tries though!

This is true. I bought my son an XXL hoodie from Amazon. They must have made that dude for an extra-large smurf, because he probably would needed a 5XL to fit.

Hubby and I do that every few months lol. I mean mostly it's to Goodwill on Dollar Days, but it's like "Here ya go, treat yoself to something nice" and one person gets a budget to go nuts with. We fancy.

My solution was just to become too pricey to clothes shop for, I've become more picky with age.
