Man, my dude from the Petersons got a new shirt today.

Yeah i have a tax lady that i go to, family has been using her for about 20 years. I talked to her on the phone when i started this and she just said she'll take care of me, and suggested for me to save my internet bills and power bills so she can use a % of those as deductions.Folks, the best advice is to talk to someone who does taxes for a profession - even if it's just someone at H & R Block or something similar.
Every year we debate it to death. The tax code is confusing, evolving, and a general pain in the ass.
worst one so far today was a guy's naked tattooed back with a woman's manicured hands coming around each sideMan, my dude from the Petersons got a new shirt today. @CrazyCatLady @Despairagus
not bad, thats ~14.5%just for example...last year I made $4469 on MTurk and I had to pay about $630ish in self-employment taxes
Yeah, since I already own another business I already save receipts from absolutely everything. For my own situation my tax consultant told me that turk is my 3rd source of income and since I only do it a few hours a week while passing the time with my toddler I am entitled to claim it as 'hobby income.' Last year's hobby income threshold was around $8,000. So anything made less than that was non-taxable.Yeah i have a tax lady that i go to, family has been using her for about 20 years. Thought it might be useful, for all extents and purposes it would probably be classified as a sole proprietorship so it should fall right in line, but again not a CPA. That all was thrown in with the last tax changes, so it caught my eye when I was getting salty about losing all my union deductions. Now I'm stuck with the standard 12k deduction, instead of the 22k deduction I would have got prior to the change. At the very least its worth looking into anyway.Very insightful regardless. Thanks for this.

nah, I just used the H&R block estimator because I will use something like that to do my taxes. Idk how much it took off. I input my YTD income from my main job and input my earnings for last year, and it spit out a number. it seemed to be like 26%Did you take 20% off the top of your turk earnings?
Usually once you get into the % based deductions or claiming a home office sort of deal is where you are more likely to be audited, though that shouldn't matter much as long as you don't do anything goofy. I never claimed home office with my LLC for example, because it requires it to be a room that is basically just used for business reasons.Yeah i have a tax lady that i go to, family has been using her for about 20 years. Yeah, we aren't going to claim the home office deduction for the audit reason, but she said it would be safe to claim 80% of the internet bill and 10% of the power bill as deductions.Usually once you get into the % based deductions or claiming a home office sort of deal is where you are more likely to be audited, though that shouldn't matter much as long as you don't do anything goofy. that's kind of what I do. I claim about 70% internet, never claimed my electric bill though. I do claim computer repairs, too. Never claimed a home office since I'm set up in my living room.Yeah, we aren't going to claim the home office deduction for the audit reason, but she said it would be safe to claim 80% of the internet bill and 10% of the power bill as deductions.
With the increase in the standard deductions and the union changes I don't even have enough to itemize anymore. My mileage and union dues went out the window. Put 25k miles on the car too this year. :cry2:Yeah, we aren't going to claim the home office deduction for the audit reason, but she said it would be safe to claim 80% of the internet bill and 10% of the power bill as deductions.
