These were like 4 seconds, depending on your load times..
That's just an example of the past few hours. Daytime, non-Sunday, non-post-Holiday weekend, I'm sure there's tons more.
You are absolutely right that a lot of them are rubbish. Then there are ones that are super quick. Also, getting those numbers(# HITs approved) up there will hopefully make you more likely to be able to participate in better batches. But, with lower numbers, your options are limited. Not that they're any better for anyone with better numbers, at the moment, but # of HITs approved is probably the second most used qualification, after location. It's like if you already know how to do a job but, have no experience. They want to see practical time "behind the wheel". Think of it like a lightly paid internship. I'm not saying do stuff that's severely underpaid but, we've all done things that we could consider a sacrifice of money for experience(qualifications, numbers, scripting, learning). If you think of turking more like a job that can grow with you, the numbers feel like they have more significance. If you think of it like a job that you just learn and then know, without the growth and practice(which you get from batches), a lot of people find that their income potential plateaus as well.
These also take less than 5 seconds...
