It's kind of subjective, I know. Thanks. I had just never seen it worded that way. In fact, it was so odd, to me, that it "jumped out" of the consent form. Sometimes being witty can smudge the meaning, a bit. Thanks.

I'm really impressed in how they managed to phrase that in the most awkward way possible. But I think they mean both things. Really the whole "you're an adult" could've been dropped, it adds nothing to the sentence but confusion.
