Do you know why you can't get their extension working? I don't do usertesting but I might be able to help get that working for you since I know a fair amount about extensions.

I have not been able to figure it out.

When I start a user test, they do a test of the audio and it looks like this (this part ALWAYS works for me)

Now DURING the test, there is an audio indicator that tells you if the recorder is picking up the sound of your voice. THIS is the part that has NEVER worked for me and I always end up having to return the test.

My mic NEVER lights up when I speak like this one. It stays grey.

Hey, i have a really important question for anyone who uses usertesting.com. Are they only using the chrome extension now? Has anyone done a test today with the normal usertesting recorder on a PC?

they are using the new chrome extension now. it was in beta and sucked, and it is really finnicky with multi monitor support. I don't like it at all. I have had to return over half of them.

Alright, I think the first area of attack will be seeing if there are any errors in the extension then. First go to extension and enable developer mode in the top right. Then go to the details of the Usertesting ext and click all the inspect views to open consoles. Also do this to the popup recorder by right clicking the element => inspect. Do this before running the test so you can see when the errors pop up. SS any errors if there are any if not, let me know and I'll sleuth around for issues with extensions and voice recording.

Other Qs: What is your OS? What version of Chrome are you running? Can/did you try the extension on another browser like Chromium or Canary?

definitely. every other user testing site has better recorders for computer and phone

if I try to launch it by moving the browser window to my main screen it give a cryptic message that says "does not support full screen mode". if I launch it from a browser in a 2nd monitor and share my 1st main screen, then advancing within the test becomes impossible. if I launch it from the 2nd screen and share the 2nd screen, everything works, but I have no choice but to use this screen only and its really sub-optimal. its basically like it pre-ordained only one of my three monitors as the viewing/recording area (that can't be changed), despite pretending to give the choice of any of the three.

I just started a $2 survey, got screen out immediately but still got a completion code. Checked Turkviewer, good reviews...one of the pros listed was paid screener, so i went ahead and submitted. Small Miracles happen.

No, but I found a reddit thread about the deal and people that said they had talked to customer service said they were told it would take up to two weeks.
