Just imagine that once there's wide-spread deployment/acceptance of self driving cars, DUIs of all sorts would actually become a thing of the past. No more last call!

or you'll still get DUI if your self driving car crashes. I assume for decades when they start to be purchased, there will have to be a sober person in the "drivers seat" in case the car's brain crashes or doesn't sense a crash situation that a human needs to intervene to try to avoid the accident.

I think it's going to take awhile for self driving cars to build confidence in the public that they are less accident prone than if a human were driving. I can think of one self-driving car crash that killed a pedestrian, one that killed a man (the owner of the car) and a self-driving bus that injured several.
