My first question: If a requester sends you a followup email saying they've "paid you" about 15 minutes ago, and the hit hasn't been approved yet, should I be worried or is there a delay from the time a requester approves a hit and when it appears as approved in my dashboard?

There can be. I wouldn't worry about contacting them until after the weekend.
