this is kinda one of my pet topics. they are starting to use machine learning in forensics so they do stuff like
feed AI a bunch of information, DNA and facial features lets say. millions of peoples faces and matching DNA.
then they use people they know, and they give the machine DNA, and say "what does this person look like?"
the machine does really bad and they tell it when it got stuff right (reward it with points) and when it got it wrong
so it starts getting better at it
pretty soon it's doing a pretty good job. the pictures it comes up with look a lot like the real pictures.
so if it's good at that, why wouldn't it be good at doing it was people we don't know? it would! and it is. going to be breakthroughs in crime coming up here in a few years because of this. they are already creating composites of john does where we have bodies but no names/other info
