So what do you put for the 100 printers one?

This is why algebra > intuition

No, I hate algebra, I've gotten those damn things right with intuition b/c my paranoid ass never trusts ANYTHING, and I re-read them word-by-word.

(and MOST of them AREN'T math, they're trick questions.)

Increasing the number of them doesn't increase how fast they go, it's the same time.

Unrelated, but Husband just got the "A bat and a ball cost 1.10" problem and questoined it... I always say the ball cost .10... but if the bat is $1 MORE than the ball....

My favorite of those questions are the men's choir (easier) and poisonous mushrooms (more steps) ones.

It's a "trick" question meant to test how intuitive a thinker you are/how vigilant you are when it comes to critical thinking. A lot of people answer .10, because it is the intuitive answer. They asked a group of super-students at Harvard and more than 50% got it wrong.

Also, knowing this makes you no longer a "naive" survey taker and you will now produce worst data because you already know the answer. Smart survey writers will ask if you've seen the question before to combat this.

If you answer the $1.10 question wrong all the time, do you get a lot of emails from Nigerian princes?

Because I never get emails from Nigerian princes and I was wondering if that was why.

10 seconds, right? B/c if 10 do it in 10 seconds, then 100 would do it in 10 seconds. And the lilly pad thing is just one day less than the final (idk what it is like 48 days for full coverage, so it's only 47?)

Everyone always uses the same questions too, I've came across them hundreds of times. Sometimes they are slightly different, like the lilypads (covering a pond in 48 days) will be replaced with something else. Changing the scenario doesn't change the answer.

I agree that a 4 year degree doesn't necessarily make you smarter or a better worker. Not everyone has the same opportunities for education. I stopped after an associate's degree. I had bills to pay. But I think it might open doors that might not otherwise be available to you, and it certainly increases your earnings. I'm never technically going to be an engineer, and someone right out of college is going to make more than I do even though they don't know anything.

Those are the same answers I get for those. I think the bat one is the only one I'm tripped on

DANG, that does make sense. Now I don't know if I should lie and tell them what I actually think, or tell them the truth [I'll tell the truth]

Much more preferable trolley problem.
