So just wondering, I've heard many people say that it's against the mTurk TOS for a requester to ask for a worker's email. Is this true?

They're not supposed to require it, but most people feel it's okay if it's optional to volunteer it.

But it's still against the TOS, right?
That's my point - if you can complete the HIT without providing the email, then they didn't require you to provide identifiable info even if there was a field you COULD have put it in, so most people think it's okay == not against TOS.

Yes. It's against the TOS to require it. Some people think it's okay to ask as long as it's not a mandatory question.

What are some specific examples of HITs that violate Amazon Mechanical Turk policies?
  • HITs requiring disclosure of the Worker's identity or e-mail address, either directly or indirectly
