must have spent 30 minutes in the check out line at walmart. i've had various experiences at this particular store. Lately their latest thing is to hire the area Somalis to work which is fine. they know what they are doing. but this morning, the poor lady couldn't count at least in English, not at all. it was obvious when she picked up items that the people in front of me had that were the same and rang them up individually instead of hitting the multiple key. she didn't know her money either. it wasn't put on. it was very obvious she had no clue what to do. i gave her a 100 bill to pay for 34 $ worth of stuff. she gave me about 21$ in change. I did control my reaction. And the gentleman behind me was also Somali and perhaps worked at walmart because he helped us work through this little problem. I got the change needed on my calculator, showed him the change when it was finally correct and let him count it so he could assure her we got it straightened out. i guess the point of the thing is walmart does not give a competency test? the poor lady didn't know a one dollar bill from the others nor a dime from a nickel.

Let's tone it down with the generalizations please. I've encountered plenty of people at Walmart that were born and raised in this country, that were just as inept.

i have no problem with nationality. i just wonder why walmart is hiring people who are not capable of doing the job. is this what we have come down to. and it doesn't matter where they are from.

You seem to though, otherwise you wouldn't be making it a point to mention their nationality. Anyways, I don't want to get into this in the work thread. Let's just move on, please.

Today does not feel like it is going to go well...only at $3 because of a couple of Hits that took longer than I expected and now I am not catching anything >.<

It hasn't been a good start for me, either. This week hasn't been great so far for me, tbh.

I didn't take this as a generalization on nationalities or that you have a problem with it. I took it as you just explaining things better, or else the part about the person behind you in line wouldn't make sense. That lady could be very smart, just doesn't get the US currency yet. To me, that is different than comparing the person you dealt with to people who know US currency and still don't get it (I guess you didn't have to point out their specific nationality though). Either way though, they should do some type of competency test.. and that's all I have to say about this.

Heads up if you can't find a website for Gary Phipps, enter COULDN'T RESOLVE instead of n/a. I emailed him about rejections which he didn't get rid of because I used n/a instead of that, and I told him to put them on the instructions of his HIT but of course that didn't happen either.

I just tried one (out of curiosity, due to your post), and it submitted successfully. Might look over this requester a bit though, their TO/TurkerView is mixed
