Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun
Shine on you crazy diamond
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky
Shine on you crazy diamond
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom
Blown on the steel breeze
Come on you target for faraway laughter
Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon
Shine on you crazy diamond
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light
Shine on you crazy diamond
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision
Rode on the steel breeze
Come on you raver, you seer of visions
Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine

Pat Connaughton... you'd think a basketball player would be able to throw a better pitch.

Thanks to that basketball game, I now know there was a team called the Syracuse Nationals that played in the 50s.

I thought this is what your generation listened to?

I'm universal. I'll listen to anything and have heard most things. 'Cept rap. I don't like rap. It's neither good music, nor good poetry. It's just intrusive, abusive and annoying. It's the thing you hear go bump in the night in the distance--to be avoided and feared. 'Cause, ya know, drug dealers with Uzies out there in the dark. Playing Rap.

That's kind of where you're wrong, yes, bad rap may sound like that, but good rap is both musical and poetic. I had an English teacher in high school that used Tupac to teach us about poetry. I too like all music.
