I agree. I love the Rainforest Pyramid and I think the military aircraft museum there was pretty cool, took the kids to tour the battleship. But the gulf is just so blah. But after living on the Atlantic and in the middle of the Pacific I am pretty biased.

I knew I hated Galveston for a reason.

I've told people for years to stay out of that water. It's dirty, dangerous and full of harmful wildlife. If you are wading in the surf and can't see your feet, you're too deep. Those few inches are enough to get stabbed by a stingray, step on broken shells and glass, not to mention the assorted man made garbage drifting around in there. There are repeated sandbars and you can literally fall off into water over your head--and just a few feet from shore. I've seen sharks close enough to touch. (something I'd rather not do again) People don't realize the force of the under tow in the Gulf. And just to scare you outta the water, the Gulf Stream smacks Galveston Island dead center. If you have a death wish, watch TV and have a fatal heart attack. It's safer.
