is this site eligible for an Amazon affiliate link? I thought they had a program where podcasts and other things could put an amazon link on their website and when someone clicked on the link and placed an order, that podcast or site could get like 1% of the order amount as a referral bonus or affiliate payment.

A very long time ago, I used to make 14-15 K monthly on affiliate links. This was before BHO's (browser helper objects) started hijacking and overwriting my affiliate codes on the dozens of websites I had. I am thinking of trying again, now that I am wiser. Definitely worth going the affiliate route if well planned.

Would you have to use Amazon Affiliates? This would be a good place for headhunters/temp agencies to post for workers for physical presence type work for example.

I'm not sure. I don't think we ever really wanted to do any sort of advertising on here, so it's just not something that we ever looked into. Generally, we're more than fine with the donations that we get (especially after the server migration a few months ago). This was just sort of a one-time big expense thing that I don't think we'll have to deal with again.
