Any of you garden nerds know why my cantaloupes have (significantly) mostly male flowers? Like, can I amend the soil or talk them into not being so weird?
I grew these sweet babies from seed, and would really love to actually eat the literal fruit of my labors.

Sometimes flowering fruit vines need to grow bigger before they set fruit. My mother would complain about her squash plants the same way you have. If I remember right, she got a spray can of something to help set the fruit. ''Blossom set''? I'm not sure if I'm remembering this name. I never grew squash or tomatoes like she did. I grew roses and orchids and plumerias.

I've remembered that the weather can affect the fruiting, too. Tomatoes are prone to weather related troubles. Mother used to come in bitching that the flowers all fell off without setting fruit. She apparently solved the problem, 'cause she had mountains of stuff outta her garden. I do think that these problems were worse down here on the Gulf Coast. Her gardens in Austin were ridiculous. She gave the produce away by the boxes. Finally she started putting it out by the curb for anyone to take. The garbage collectors thought she was wonderful.

Just spent nearly 120 minutes on the Video Game Study which was advertised to take 60-80 minutes... even before each round of the game it said the round would take 3 minutes but they took 6 minutes. Was too deep in when I realized, very unfortunate. Contacted the requester, hopefully they fix it.

Yea when the HIT ends up being far over the estimate I always ask for extra money.
They usually are willing to make it right.

Yeah, I live in a very warm climate, so I started them ages ago- they're plenty big, I'm just a little freaked that I have like two female flowers to every seven or so males. o.0 I just hope they're getting pollinated. I was wondering if there's a reason they're mostly male or not. I'm not expecting fruit yet.
My squash are pretty even in male/female ratio. A few more male (which is good- more spots for bees to gather...) but nothing like my cantaloupes.
