xeon's arent really optimized for gaming at all they're meant for very large multi core applications like rendering. an i5 or i7 would have been better

Yeah, he's been doing it since he was a kid. Sometimes, he still does it for his job - servers and such. He had the parts already (he's a "collector.") Just don't have the kind of graphics cards that they think they need. I'm glad you were kidding about the other stuff bc I didn't have a clue what you were talking about. He likes to build them kickass machines, but it's been 3 years or so since he built these last ones so they're probably ready for something more updated.

All I've done on my laptop since getting it set up is play Undertale and Ys. I intended to use it to turk outside of this room, but that hasn't happened yet.

He may have some of those too. I'll ask him. Our house is like Sanford & Son but with computer parts.
Edit: He does have some of those. He pulled the other things from a CAD workstation.
