ok so as a kid, Chris Reeves was pretty much a god and could do no wrong. so i really can't say anything he did could ever be bad.

Beat me to it. Quest for Peace is where Superman becomes dictator of the world. Absolutely antithetical to the character, but they did it anyway because of the nuclear disarmament movement (proven to be funded by the USSR since then).
