I was like that with WoW... I havent played in awhile, but I used to be our guilds main raid heals up to MoP.
i have most of the looms and every character at max level (some of the classes with multiple 100s!)

It says dont open until instructed? so maybe its from a study and they are gonna send out a mass email, if it was a mass survey and then go from there?

I didn't last long in WoW. I was in EQ2's beta in the very beginning of it (friends and family portion). Left when WoW released and started a raid guild. I found that WoW was far too immature and there was too much drama for me running a huge guild. Quit and went back to EQ2.
Kinda the same but MMO's in general. Played UO on and off for about 17 years. In between it was WOW, SWG, Atlantica(awesome underrated game), Guild Wars and a ton of others. Recently bought into Albion because it was supposed to be like UO. Again I stopped making money so that was it. Now I just play single player games for the most part.
