10,000 hits is the first real milestone that opens some stuff up. Number of hits completed isn't a huge gate though.

I just found out my car is going to cost $2600 to repair. Timing chain and other fun things associated with it.

I just got back from spending a little over $600 at my mechanic today and i thought i was having a bad day.

It's cash for clunkers season according to a lot of ads. August must be dead for car dealers.

If you car is more than 10+ years old, it might be worth it. It's amazing how things changed in 20 years from my former car to my newer car as far as tech and safety features.

My car is 5 years old. If it had 12k less miles it would have been eligible for the warranty.

Assuming you are like me and will drive a car over 10 years until it dies or like my other car, parts are no longer made to repair it at the 20 year mark, I guess you're going to have to fix it.

totally agree. I know someone with a BMW. Seems like I'm frequently seeing that car with its hood up and he's adding oil or doing or checking out something else with it.

I have never had a want for a beemer but I ever did, he would be the poster child of thinking twice about that.

that's really tough then. It's a senior citizen in 5 years the way you've driven it so a new car makes sense but the question is if you drop that coin fixing it, will it last another 5 years with the mileage you put on it?
