I wanted to point out, the reason that rat is in a little harness is because it's searching for landmines. Bomb-sniffing rats are too light to set off mines and excellent at sniffing them out.

They're true heroes.

We get at least one every year here. I love them so much but they scare me at the same time. We always release them back into our woods.

They're supposed to make pretty awesome pets if you get them as babies. When there aren't kids in the house, I'll get more serious about my wildlife rehab again.

There's none of that Cecil the Lion shit with raccoons. 24 hours after you release them, they're pretty much wild again. Unless you've had them a few years, that may play out differently.
