This is my mother's birthday. Although she was born on Labor Day, it was Labor Day on Sept. 7 in the year she was born. Since, as we all know, Labor Day is like Easter--it pops up on different days each year. They(whoever''they'' are) apparently choose whatever day each year that's currently not being used to celebrate something or other for Easter or Labor Day. I am thoroughly convinced that this mumbly-peg style of choosing holidays is simply to confuse me.....Happy Birthday, Mom. Wish you were here to refuse to put candles on the cake, like usual.

I think Labor Day and Thanksgiving are easy enough, but Easter isn't even always in the same month. Something to do with the moon or something maybe, I dunno. Should be converted to pizza day or spring halloween.

I see that Crape Myrtle HIT is up again. I can never get that. And I have a lot to say about crape myrtles. Don't plant one. I did. Right by the front door. A dwarf pink crape myrtle. Don't, just don't. After a mere 2 years, my 4 foot tall dwarf crape myrtle was higher than the house. It was lovely, but it kept growing...and growing....and growing. I finally dug it up---which was a frightening experience. It had roots that spoke Chinese. This was a Jack 'n the beanstalk crape myrtle. When you can't see the top of a plant in your garden, you might want to rethink planting it.

she's next door. NM is only in the mid 90's today. Weird how it never got very hot when it should have been back in June/July and now that the weather is supposed to be cooling off, it's been the heat we should have had a month or two ago and not now.

Too early for me to call it another changing weather pattern related to global warming as it's only happened this season and not this way over several.

it was hot as balls here in Cruces.... June was awful and so was July... it could be because our swamp cooler doesn't like the extra humidity hanging around this year but the high 90s and then 100s in the past two months were awful...

Probably won't be able to afford one till mid-October. I can barely type on this thing. I'll be typing a word, and all of a sudden the cursor will jump somewhere else on the screen--at random--and start inserting what I'm typing right in the middle of a word or sentence I typed earlier. DRIVING ME CRAZY. ...........................................................It just did that 8 times for this short paragraph.

I used to have the same problem on laptops because my wrist would hit the touch pad while I was typing, causing the cursor to move to wherever my mouse was pointing.
