It's opening day of the nine-day 2019 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta! More than 550 registered balloons -- which includes almost 100 special shaped balloons -- are participating in the fiesta this year and almost a million people will attend over the nine days. Mass ascension days like today are spectacular with hundreds of balloons in the sky. A local TV station has coverage Saturday and Sundays of both weekends from 9am-11am Eastern Time and you can stream it at kob.com if you want to watch the colorful spectacle!

It's 5 o'clock. It must be morning--AM-- since there's no sun out there. I did look to make sure. Why am I awake on a sunless Saturday MORNING? Oh, yeah, I was awakened by an outstanding sinus headache. Ragweed is NOT your friend. Other forms of ''weed'' may befriend you, but not ragweed. Ragweed should all be burned to the ground. Which isn't asking for much, since it's already pretty close to the ground--ya know, growing outta the ground like it does. And it does grow around here! Kill! Kill!!
