I'm so afraid I'm going to lose my account I'm having an anxiety attack. I don't use scripts beyond turkmaster and the mts extension. Wtf did I do wrong to get this scary ass email?
Just to maybe calm you down a little, I got a similar email last year and nothing happened to me. I understand the fear because Mturk is my full time occupation and has been for years. I have no idea what I'd do without it. For a couple months after my warning I played it extremely safe, (for example, if I couldn't be absolutely certain I'd never done a survey before, I'd toss it back rather than risk a rejection for a repeat.) I seem to have made it through the gauntlet intact because it's been almost 12 months...but who knows.

The lack of communication is a bigger let down than the tech issue for me. I just hear they are working on it. Are the tech guys using wrenches and unable to communicate online? Just send an email to us at least and say there is an issue and we are hopefully gonna fix it by X date.
Since I'm talking about things that have happened to me before, a couple years ago Amazon lost a payment of mine and no amount of communication with AP solved the issue. Everyone I spoke to was extremely nice and friendly, but they couldn't figure out what had happened or how to fix it, although they assured me they were trying. It wasn't until I emailed the jeff@amazon email that I finally got my money...so it must not have been that hard to do after all, it just wasn't a priority. All in all it took 33 days to get my payment back. I waited 30 days to email that account and got my payment back 3 days later.

Hopefully because this time it happened to A LOT of people, AP will be a lot more prompt and competent.

In most cases I'm sure that's probably true, but even that doesn't stop some folks in some cases. Just this week there was a HIT with a qualification test that people cheated and caused issues for the requester. They got the qual and then just spammed the HIT over and over.
You could cut down on that, though. Like don't let people immediately retake a qual test after failing it, or use actual qual HITs instead of a test, so people only get one chance at it. Then just monitor your data at the start and pull quals of people that seem like they're doing shady stuff. A lot of requesters do it this way and it seems to work well enough, at least from what I can see (I don't know the exact nature of the data they get, of course). And if there's still an issue with some people, reject their work, pull their quals, and block them. Requesters have a lot of control over how they can manage their workforce, but Amazon is really shit at explaining that in a meaningful way.

If Amazon put any effort at all into teaching requesters how to properly manage their work force with qualifications, the whole situation could have been avoided in the first place.
I'm not disagreeing that Amazon can't do better (they can, but they also are trying to), but that in particular is way beyond qualifications & a large part of what's going on cannot be solved just by qualifications alone. It's ultimately Amazon's responsibility, but they are doing what needs to be done and that unfortunately means culling a significant amount of accounts that have been stolen, created from identity theft, sold, farmed out, or just straight up belong to people who have been taking advantage of the fact they can scream bloody murder at an IRB and/or threaten someone else's job to prop up their poor work quality and ethic.

It definitely sucks that workers don't really have a voice in the overarching discussion and that some people are going to get nastygrams or even unfairly suspended but I wouldn't shed a single tear for anyone in that particular Tweet not being able to take a survey/HIT I want to do.

LITTLE BIT QUALITY :hilarious:

I would like to know how I got pulled into the bot email then because unless one of those requesters was Hotel Photos that tweeted them I shouldn't have been threatened.
