Wait, what?
A couple requesters tweeted at AMT yesterday about what they perceived to be bots performing their HITs and AMT replied that they were looking into it and suspending people.

To be fair to the requesters, I'm sure their complaints were perfectly valid, and one even provided some proof. I agree that something needs to be done about that stuff, but something about the situation just really rubs me the wrong way, when a requester can tweet at AMT saying "My data sucks, do something" and AMT responds with "Okay, we suspended people."

Sure, that sorta solves that one problem for the requester, but I can't imagine it makes them feel all that enthusiastic about using MTurk again. If Amazon put any effort at all into teaching requesters how to properly manage their work force with qualifications, the whole situation could have been avoided in the first place.

It makes me uncomfortable that they felt they had to tweet rather than just, idk, contact AMT in some more normal way, like wow.

In most cases I'm sure that's probably true, but even that doesn't stop some folks in some cases. Just this week there was a HIT with a qualification test that people cheated and caused issues for the requester. They got the qual and then just spammed the HIT over and over.

it's 2019 tho, tweeting has a better chance of getting customer service than direct contact. It's one of two reasons that I have a twitter account (other than entering contests)
