Oh my gosh I'm so sorry. I mostly left retail because my feet couldn't take it anymore but it's just so sad how people can be. Very sad. I haven't seen anything bad on the news yet and I hope it stays that way.

Thanks to anyone who worked on my four requests over the last few days about implementing a live chat feature on an e-commerce web site. Responses were quick and most of them quite insightful. I hope to bring you more HITs in the future!

I like to watch the news about Black Friday shopping because I find it fascinating how people in groups react to things. It's like they cease to be individuals and become one organism.

You have a way with words lmao. That's hilarious. The only time I had to work Black Friday I was stationed at a self-check register. So glad I wasn't on the floor.
Thank you! I don't know. The register is probably just as bad. What if something had come up the wrong price? You could have had a full scale riot on your hands.

I do not miss retail at all.

I used to work at a little home improvement store when I was in high school and we would sell Christmas trees and lights/ornaments etc. We would open up on Black Friday and it was like we were the only place in town that was open. Seventy-five people would all try to get down the lights aisle that was designed for no more than six. The thing that always got to me was the anger. People were so mad that they didn't get whatever "thing" they were after. They would call you names and threaten to "never shop here again!!!" or tell the owner about this mistreatment because they were "good friends" with them. It wasn't just Black Friday. Just about any day we had an ad come out in the paper was basically like that. So glad to be out of that mess.

Ah yes. The ole, "This is false advertising" claim. I had one guy yell at me over something in a sales paper that we had already sold out of. He told me he was going to sue and everything. I finally got his sales paper and showed him, the small disclaimer on the bottom that said "not all items in all stores" and "while supplies last." I ended up driving to another one of our stores and bringing the item to our store for him. I didn't want to, but he looked so pitiful when he found out he couldn't sue...

I used to work at Kroger. It was dead as a doornail during Black Friday but the days preceding any holiday is was hell. People were rude, demanded you take them to items that were sold out, cussed at you because the store should have stocked more. I am not a people person and i could not handle it. I worked in the deli and didn't have to deal with as many people but it was still terrible. I remember one man calling the store irate because his meat and cheese tray he order only came with meat and cheese. ??

Has anyone caught the "good" Choice Lab yet? I caught the survey from them earlier, but was wondering if I had been qualled out of the other ones.

I worked different customer service jobs for years. I am ethnically mixed and tend to be mistaken for whatever the hated flavor of race is at that moment. A woman was screaming at me one day to go back to my own country, (you can use your imagination for which one), when I could not provide what she wanted. I am used to it so I just ignored it. I won't even justify it with explanations about what my race is but 99% of the time, people are wrong.
As I walked back to work, I saw an older gentleman in a wheelchair with tears rolling down his face. He said "I can't believe I fought for people like that to be able to talk to you the way she just did." Made me realize that peoples stupid behavior towards others in retail not only can affect the worker but also others around the store.
