my dad was telling me he saw on the news 'they' (not sure who they is atm) are saying social distancing rules might stay in place until 2022. That just sound crazy to me. I can't help wondering how accurate that is or if they're blowing it out of proportion.

Well,the IRS has been a bit underfunded for years, I think Mr. T ( whom I abhor) has stabilized that--to his credit--but the IRS was never set up to deal with the current situation.

So anyone that receives Social Security that doesn't need to file taxes get their Stimulus yet? Trying to figure out my moms situation, we are kinda financially screwed. Had to call the police on a tenant last nite, not that the cops can do anything. And we cant evict him right now... Sigh The drama I swear

Well,the IRS has been a bit underfunded for years, I think Mr. T ( whom I abhor) has stabilized that--to his credit--but the IRS was never set up to deal with the current situation.

too bad they don't have the resources to check those who used the non-filer portal because there may be lots of underreported income there to collect tax on. i suppose computers could check the ssn of those registering for payments against previously reported 1099s and such to see if anything exceeds the filing income amount and flag those for audits.

can't say about those on social security. the one person i know wont get a check because of making too much with their pension.

tenant - civil matter and not criminal matter as the police on livepd say all the time. you could start the legal eviction process but i realize the civil courts may be closed or have limited operations and evictions may even be halted by governor executive order during the emergency.

Most ssi/ssdi did not receive it yet, they will in theory send the money to the bank account on file that receives the monthly payments, they are currently behind in that according to the blogs. As long as they have a current address for paper checks, and/or bank account information that is accurate, it is just a matter of waiting it out. Paper checks will start rolling out Friday.
