I did the HIT and signed up for the offer, but ultimately told him by email that I wouldn't do the offer. I'm pretty much sticking to medical/surgical masks at work since all Ohio employees have to wear masks. I didn't know if it would be thick enough. I felt strange having to buy it first too.

I did one for a coffee frother about a year ago. I had no troubles and the frother works well.

I am thinking of knitting one for the fall.
I think I'd put in a pocket for a filter.
For shopping I think it's perfect -- Just to go in and out of a store quickly. And I could make it close-fitting - which would help.

But you're right, the commercial ones prob. aren't thick enough. (and my idea doesn't sound ideal for summer, even in VT, lol)

It would definitely be more comfortable and fashionable than my current look!
