I only see work appear in "waves." Is this everyone else'e experience?

This is what kills my earnings/hourly rate on here.

I can make $4-$7 one hour, but then the next hour+ will be absolutely dead. And then by the end of the day, I'll have made like $2 per hour.

Is this only avoidable with closed quals or something?

it does seem to come in waves. and summer (for sure) is always hard. Have you read through this?
